This year, we put our heart and soul into Kick Cancer, in memory of a special individual: Lowieke!
Lowieke was only six years old, but he fought an incredible battle against childhood cancer. His treatment was based on methods that were already 25 years old, and the risks were enormous. Had he survived the treatments, he would have been disabled for life, due to the enormous damage the radiotherapy did, especially to small children. Despite his enormous fighting spirit and unwavering optimism, he lost the battle on 12 May 2024. His parents (Sven and Ellen) continue to fight, not only for their little superhero, but for all other children who have to overcome the same terrible disease.
Lowieke’s story stays with us, and his fight is not over. Together with Sven and Ellen, we are committed to helping eliminate childhood cancer from the world by supporting Kick Cancer.
Kick Cancer funds clinical trials of new treatments and works hard to improve the research structure. They give young patients and their families a voice, so that together we can ensure a future without childhood cancer.
